Situation:
McLean had an in-house IT team, however when their IT manager retired they realized it was time for a completely new approach to managing IT to keep up with their business and patient needs, while also keeping up with the fast changing technology and regulatory landscape.
Response:
McLean decided that they wanted to focus on improving their core services and engage a full service technology partner to support them. This lead them to outsource their IT services to IT Direct. We evaluated their entire network, finding ways to drive faster performance and more efficiency. Among other things we have implemented encryption software, a self service password reset tool, and helped deliver enhanced Internet connectivity. Additionally, leveraging virtualization technology we have decreased capital expenditures and reduced maintenance windows in this 24/7 operation. Finally, we have expanded wireless coverage for residents and staff.
Results:
With our help, McLean was able to reduce their technology maintenance window by 83%, helping staff to focus on delivering great care with faster Internet connection, a more reliable network, and expanded wireless coverage. Remote workers can easily reset their passwords over a VPN, saving them time and increasing security measures. Additionally, we are able to strategically plan improvements to continue a trend in efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.
