Situation:
The Connecticut Convention Center sought a one-hour, rapid recovery back-up system that would provide live backup and be operational and supported 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Convention Center’s system controls the chillers and boilers – and the connected alarm system – for the entire complex as well as the attached Marriott hotel. The complete solution would also need to provide backed up historical temperature data.
Response:
IT Direct developed a rapid recovery backup solution that included linking together various systems such as: tape drives, VPN, an on-site spare server, back-up hardware and more. By taking a business-minded approach and working with existing equipment, IT Direct developed a plan that saved the Convention Center around $50,000. As part of a three-year contract, the solution involves IT Direct’s constant monitoring and on-call service. In the event of an emergency, IT Direct can have the system back up in an hour’s time.
